Breathing Easy

allergies and asthma, managed

Manage childhood allergies and asthma calmly and well โ€” triggers mapped, medicines and action plans kept current, seasons anticipated โ€” so breathing trouble stays an event, never an identity.

A copy carries over only the public parts you see here โ€” the owners' private files never leave their own vaults.

๐Ÿšง Draft โ€” not final. A generic, shareable version of this project's approach, published because it may help other families. Give it a human edit before relying on it โ€” and see the note at the bottom.

Asthma & allergies โ€” an action-plan template

Managing a child's asthma or allergies calmly comes down to two things: knowing the triggers cold, and having the response already written down before a bad night, so nobody has to improvise while a child struggles to breathe. This is a reusable template for both. The medical content โ€” which medicines, what doses, which danger signs โ€” comes from your doctor; this just gives it a shape that stays visible and current.

1. The trigger map

Keep an honest, living list โ€” triggers change with age and season.

Trigger Season / when Reaction What helps
(dust, pollen, cold air, a food, a petโ€ฆ)

Suspected-but-unconfirmed triggers get a "?" until a pattern actually proves them. Update the map the moment a new pattern shows.

2. The action plan (zones)

The widely used traffic-light structure, filled in with your doctor's specifics:

  • ๐ŸŸข Green โ€” doing well: normal activity; daily/preventer medicine as prescribed.
  • ๐ŸŸก Yellow โ€” warning signs: (the early signs โ€” cough, mild wheeze, needing the reliever more) โ†’ the agreed step-up.
  • ๐Ÿ”ด Red โ€” emergency: (the danger signs โ€” hard to breathe or talk, reliever not working, lips/nails bluish) โ†’ get emergency help now.

Post it where the whole family can see it. Everyone who cares for the child should know the red signs.

3. Standing checks

  • Action plan current (matches the last doctor visit)
  • Medicines in date and not running low
  • Inhaler technique checked โ€” most "the inhaler isn't working" turns out to be technique, and a spacer usually helps

4. Season pre-checks

  • Before pollen season โ€” start preventer early if advised; bedding/windows plan
  • Before monsoon/damp โ€” mould watch, ventilation
  • Before winter โ€” cold-air plan; flu vaccination if advised

Not medical advice. The diagnosis, the medicines, and the danger signs are set by the treating doctor. This template only helps keep their plan organized and in reach.
