The question

What changes would help people learn well, develop their abilities, and choose their path?

Principles

• Students are people, not workforce inputs. Jobs matter; education has wider aims.
• Different needs, different support. Keep the standard clear; remove the barriers to reaching it.
• Strong basics create choices. Literacy, numeracy, science, history, arts, health, ethics, civics.
• Mastery over seat time or rank. Feedback, productive struggle, revision, and more than one chance to understand.
• Protect teachers' time. Technology should remove paperwork, not add reporting.
• Assessment serves learning. When it starts dictating the curriculum, it has exceeded its role.
• Respect different paths. Academic, artistic, vocational, technical, business, sport, and care work are not a status ladder.
• Teach for an AI world. Judgment, curiosity, checking, creativity, teamwork, and responsibility do not become less necessary.

Conduct

Argue with what someone said, not with who they are. Everything follows from that.

• Be civil, and forward-looking: say what should change to make things better. Criticise the decision, the policy, or the argument — never the person. No mockery, no contempt.
• Bring specifics rather than grievance — not because grievance is impolite, but because only a specific can be checked or acted on.
• The past is evidence. Precedent and what went wrong before are the material this project works from, not a distraction from the future.
• No party politics, and no arguments about political personalities.
• Present lived experience as experience. Real evidence about one life; it doesn't settle a national question alone.
• Ask before sharing someone else's story. Never post another person's private details.
• No claim is exempt from being checked, including ours.

Who does what

A few parents wear all of these hats today. They are written down so they can be handed over as people arrive, and so you can see which hat is being worn.

• Contributors send experience, questions, sources, and proposals.
• Reviewers check something through a declared lens, and say which.
• Editors connect duplicates, commission missing reviews, write syntheses, record what changed — and never silently rewrite a contributor.
• AI may search, translate, compare, challenge, and draft. Every published conclusion has a named human answerable for it. "AI reviewed" is never enough.

Independence

An open civic project. Not an official consultation, not a poll. Open participation is good for discovery and scrutiny; it does not confer democratic legitimacy.

This project supports the task force's work and has no quarrel with its chair. The job is to check ideas and pass on the useful ones clearly.

Moderation

A few parents working in the time they have cannot run an appeals process, so this does not promise one.

What it does promise: if something you sent is unused, edited, or removed, ask why and you get an answer. Say the answer is wrong and it gets reconsidered.
